The Worst of the Economic Crisis

It's bad enough that people are losing their jobs left and right, but when I saw this on the yahoo page I truly knew America had hit rock bottom. It can't get any worse. The Girl Scouts of America are having to CHANGE THEIR COOKIES!! They are putting less cookies in even smaller boxes! And keeping the price the same! Can I get a big BOO from the American people? I mean really, there's not much we can do to cheer up a mourning country, but I was thinking when those Girl Scouts started selling their baked goods we would surely see a rise in the economy and smiles would start returning to peoples faces. Not anymore. Not. Any. More. But you better believe I will still be buying me some tag-alongs (insert z snap)

Mom, in case you were confused this is also a non-fiction post but it is tinged with a bit o' sarcasm.

I noticed this when ordering my cookies recently. The TagAlongs and Samoas still come only about 15 to a box, but the bargain Thin Mints are only about 28 to a box this year instead of 40 something. $3.50 a box is outrageous. We sold them for $2.00 a box. --FATSO

This has got to be the saddest post I have ever read :( Now I will have to spend even more money to get my fill of cookies for the year.

I've noticed this in a couple of things in the grocery store...stupid stuff like instead of 50 trashbags you get 47 and stuff like that...so lame. nothing as depressing as fewer thin mints though.

Snow/ice here too...my 3 year old got to experience it for the first time this morning.

WHAT!!! I didn't know this!! And BOOOOO BOOOOO HISSS! The nutty thing is...when I was a "Brownie" back in the day (you know when Pluto was a planet) they were $2 a box! And yes, there will always be a box of Thin Mints in our fridge!

I'm buying the thin mints anyway. There are some things you buy just because you really like them and not because they're a bargain or the money goes to a good cause. Well, the thin mints are one of those things for me. I'd keep them in my freezer all year too, except then I'd be as big as a house because I just eat them constantly as long as they are available. I'm so weak. Mom I

Collective boo from my house! Geeze, guess they are trying to help me kick the habit, but I really didn't ask for their help...

That's so ironic. I just saw an order form at an office I was at for a meeting. I think the Girl Scouts really could have brought us out of this depression, unfortunately this may be what pushes it all over the edge. My husband even commented on the price last year, he’ll be even more disappointed that we get fewer now. I’ll probably still buy a couple boxes, mainly because I can’t say no to those girls in front of the grocery store.

$3.50 a box sounds much better than $4 a box, so with added expenses, I can understand why they reduced the number of cookies instead of raising the price.

OH NO WHAT HAS THE WORLD COME TO! I guess I can now by more boxes and not feel as bad because I won't have as many actual cookies!
