Kitchen Update

So we have about 3/4 of the cabinets done! The tops are done and one side of the bottom ones are mostly done and the corner cabinets are done! You can see the old color compared to the new by looking at the drawers we haven't finished on this side.

Ryan has done such a great job building them!
You can see we still need to do the bottom cabinets on this side
We are going to pick up the butcher block countertops this weekend. According to IKEA online info, they don't have the smaller counter in stock so we may end up buying more than we need. If we have 6 ft left over and you know anyone who needs butcher block, let me know! You won't be getting it for free but I'm sure we can work out a deal!We will be buying a lot more wood as Ryan figured out he will have to rebuild the whole unit around our hot water heater in order to put in the bench by the back door. Still haven't found fabric Boo :(
(We spent $50 more on hinges and $50 more on wood. Which brings the total to...$1466)

A perk of having your kitchen in a constant messy state is eating out more often...especially Sunday lunch with friends!

It looks so good. Looks like you're in the home stretch. And who needs a torn up kitchen as an excuse to have lunch out with friends on Sunday? We just do it because I'm too lazy to go home and cook. True confession.
Love ya, Mom aka Gma

Katie,
I might be interested if you have left over butcherblock...I'm wanting to make an island. I'm in no hurry, so let me know if you have any left!
