Keepin' it Classy

Erin and Liv wanted to have a girls night with just the two of them so Ryan and I got to have a date night while she was here! We got all dolled up to try out Flint at the Colcord.
While we were there we kept seeing elderly people walking by the windows and leaving the hotel in enormous decorative petticoats, boleros, and boots. We asked the waitress what was going on and she wasn't sure but said tons of them were heading to the Cox Center so naturally that is where Ryan and I headed after our delicious dinner. We were thrilled to see the 62nd National Square Dance Convention going on and do-si-doed on through the doors. We stuck out like sore thumbs of course since my dress didn't stick out 3 feet from my body and we were about 40 years younger than everyone but no one seemed to care. We walked through the booths selling all sorts of square dancing accessories and ogled all the outfits of the people walking by.
These are for grown women, not toddlers
We found a few different rooms of dancing and enjoyed watching them cut a rug. One man explained to us there are different rooms for different levels. An expert level will have over 40 more calls than a beginner room.
sorry all I had was my cell phone to take pics!
Ryan and I did not take our chances on the dance floor but we did enjoy watching and sadly realized this is definitely a dying art form. Where are all the 30 year old square dancers? Maybe it will become our new hobby......
