The Short Sale Saga

Last Thursday we found out that the house we LOVE that's in a neighborhood that we LOVE that's also in a great elementary school district (they actually do exist in OKC for those who think otherwise) was finally approved...after 9.5 months of waiting! We saw the house a year ago for the first time, but because of the amount of work needed on it and the "short sale" status we didn't put an offer in until January. We put offers on two other houses that fell through while we waited. We sold our house while we waited. We moved to a rent house while we waited. And I just prayed throughout the whole thing that we would be wise and that if it was meant to be then God's timing would allow it. Our Realtor had no hope that we could get it, he tried to tell us not to get our hopes up repeatedly, we looked at dozens of other houses over the past year, but this was always our favorite. It's been empty for almost a year now. This week we've been through inspections and budget planning and on the phone with utility companies and banks and our realtor as we have 2 weeks til closing and 1 week to decide if we really want to do this. It's a gorgeous home, it just hasn't been well taken care of....BUT that's the reason we can afford it!

Here's just 2 photos of the awesomeness of this house....built in buffet in the breakfast room...that's bigger than our old dining room was.
And an adorable built in desk upstairs under a finely sculpted plaster arch.
Here's what I'm not showing you: moldy basement, cracked walls, cat poop on the floor, caving in garage, a pink tile bathroom, broken water tank and AC, etc. but oh the potential! Anyway it's still not set in stone until closing, but I couldn't wait until closing to post an update. So if you have a few spare seconds this week, say a little prayer for us that we will make wise decisions as we move forward on this adventure in our lives. I'm finally starting to let myself get excited! Eeek!

It's really beautiful and there's so many places to put your own touch, especially where that cat poop was. We'll pray that the best thing happens for you guys. It's truly gorgeous.
